Margene Ater, age 87, of Washington CH, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 2:07 a.m. at the Fayette Memorial Hospital.
She was born on August 23, 1920 in Highland County to John and Letha Hayes Jones. She had worked at the former US Shoe in Greenfield and also at the Fayette Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Southside Church of Christ and was a graduate of the McClain High School.
Margene was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Arnold and Kenneth E. Jones.
Survivors include her children John D. (Diana) Ater of Brilliant, OH and Linda (Milan) Hansen of Washington CH; grandchildren Jared (Kim) Bailey, Joshua and Alison Bailey, Jennifer (Brian) Powell, John David, Jaime and Jill Ater; great-grandchildren Michael and Emily Powell, sisters-in-law Charleen Jones of Missouri, Florabelle Jones and Rosie Hawkins both of New Holland and Edith Ater of Chillicothe as well as several nieces, nephews and special niece Joann Leach and Steve Leach, and loyal neighbor and friend Donny Anders, all of Washington CH.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow in the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
