Charles William Humphrey

CHARLES WILLIAM HUMPHREY, age 81, of Washington CH, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 9:23 a.m. at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on August 26, 1935 to Charles Emerson and Evelyn Ivalie Powell Humphrey. He was a 1953 graduate of Fairfield High School in Leesburg, Ohio. He was a member of the Grace Community Church. Charles enjoyed square dancing with his wife, fishing, doing home improvements, and spending time with his family.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Erma Jean Sova, and Mary Kathleen Horner; and two nieces, Debbie Whiteman, and Jodie Woodland.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Mae Newlan Humphrey, whom he married on October 8, 1956; children, Richard William Humphrey, Robert Eugene (Kristal) Humphrey, and Melissa Anne Stirr; grandsons, Christopher Humphrey, Nicholas Humphrey, and Joshua Stirr; brother, Kenneth (Connie) Humphrey; and his loving canine companion, Gracie. Also surviving are several adopted grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Jay Lucas officiating with burial to follow in the White Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4-8:00 p.m.
