Raymond Joslin Sr. Obituary

RAYMOND E. JOSLIN SR., age 88, of Centerville, formerly of Washington CH, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 8:09 a.m. at the Dayton Hospice House.

He was born on May 22, 1929 in Wichita, Kansas to Bernie and Mabel Young Joslin. Raymond retired after many years of work in the maintenance department at Armco Steel. He was a former member of The First Church of the Nazarene in Washington CH. He was currently an active member at CrossPoint Vineyard Church in Centerville. Raymond was part of The String Benders and often played music at the Xenia Adult Recreation & Services Center. He had a true passion for music, and could be described by many as, “Mr. Fix-it,” he loved repairing old lawnmowers and could make anything run again.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elsie Jeanine Brate Joslin; daughter, Melody Joslin; and sister, Ruby Gillespie.

Survivors include his loving wife, Velma Joslin, whom he married on February 10, 2007; children, Raymond Joslin Jr. of Nebraska, Clifton (Mary Jean) Joslin of Lancaster, Todda (Mike) Grose of Dublin, and Ted Joslin of Washington CH; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Robert (Kathy) Joslin of Destin, Florida; and brother-in-law, Harry Gillespie of Winchester, Kentucky.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the CrossPoint Vineyard Church, 38 N. Main St., Centerville, OH 45459, with Rev. William Browning officiating. Friends may visit at the church on Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

In keeping with family’s wishes, cremation will be observed following the service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420, or to Xenia Adult Recreation & Services Center, 130 E. Church St., Xenia, OH 45385.
