THOMAS “TOM” R. STRAHLER, age 66, of Washington CH, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 2:14 p.m. at Ohio State University Hospital East.
He was born on May 9, 1951 in Washington County to Ralph Leo and Eloise Evelyn Beardsley Strahler. He was a 1969 graduate of Miami Trace High School. Tom was currently employed at Jay-Car Construction in Mt. Sterling; he had been a faithful employee for thirty-two years. His work family described his as a, “top notch concrete finisher and craftsman.” Tom was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He loved going to work, gambling at the casino, collecting guns, knives, and coffee cups, and being with his family and grandchildren.
Tom was preceded in death by his father; infant granddaughter, Courtney Michelle; father-in-law, Malcolm “Bill” Farmer; stepfather-in-law, Chester Mitchell; sister-in-laws, Sandy Strahler, and Denise Farmer-Clawson; and brothers-in-law, Terry, Danny, and Billy Farmer.
Survivors include his mother; his wife and high school sweetheart, Linda Sue Farmer Strahler, whom he married on July 25, 1969; his children, April (Bob) Edwards, Melissa Strahler, both of Washington CH, Tommy (Christina) Strahler of Virginia, and Chad Strahler of Louisiana; grandchildren, Cory, Beth, Chasity, Tyler, Tiffany, Skyler, Ciera, Thomas, and Katelynn; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Lorie (Alan) Johnson, Rose (Tom) Bennington, Ralph (Buster) Strahler, Steve (Peggy) Strahler, and Delbert (Debbie) Strahler; mother-in-law, Helen Farmer Mitchell; sister-in-laws, Brenda (Curt) Cordy, Nancy (John) Pottle, and Tina Farmer; and close family friend, Jamie Creed. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Father Michael Hartge officiating with burial to follow at the Bloomingburg Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
