MARILYN JEAN KIMMET, age 93, of Washington Court House, passed away quietly in her sleep on Saturday, March 9, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born on September 3, 1930 to the late Forrest and Ona Hummon Winkle. On August 29, 1951 she married Richard Paul Kimmet, who preceded her in death in 2008.
Marilyn was a 1948 graduate of Leipsic High School. Marilyn worked retail for several years while raising her eight children. She was a member of the St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church and was active in the Society of Saint Vincent De Paul and was a former member of the Washington Lioness Club. Marilyn was known to all as a caring, optimistic, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her three brothers, Robert, John and Richard Winkle; and her sister, Grace Shively.
Survivors include her children, Gregory (Sheryl) Kimmet of Greenfield, Diana (Owen) Walton and Michael (Donna) Kimmet all of Grove City, Beth Ann (Scott) Snyder of Washington C.H., Phillip Kimmet of Columbus, Daniel (Kay) Kimmet, Brenda Kimmet (John Belles) all of Washington C.H. and Thomas (Ashley) Kimmet of Pataskala. Also surviving are her nineteen grandchildren; her twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild as well as three brothers, David, Irvin and Kenneth Winkle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024 in the St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church with Fr. C.M. Haddad officiating, burial to follow in the St. Colman Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at which time the Rosary will be promptly prayed. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations in Marilyns’ name be made to the St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church, 219 S. North Street, Washington C.H., Ohio 43160 and/or Capital City Hospice, 2800 Corporate Exchange Drive, #170, Columbus, Ohio 43231.
