BETTY ELIZABETH HANNERS, age 86, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 7:26 a.m. at Signature Healthcare of Fayette County.
She was born on June 21, 1931 in Highland County to Walter Vernon and Sylvia May Williamson Hammond. Betty and her husband were self-employed and operated their own cleaning business. She enjoyed cooking, canning, and most importantly, being with her family and grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Ray Hanners, whom she married on August 8, 1981; son, Kenneth Maxie; grandson, Nathan Maxie; and siblings, Ruby Van Pelt, Robert Hammond, and LeRoy Hammond.
Survivors include her children, Wayne J. (Patricia) Maxie, Linda L. (Greg) Miller, Ronnie L. (Teresa) Maxie, and Danny G. Maxie; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; brother, Tom Hammond and his companion, Elizabeth Hall; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wheaton; and her special friends, Carol Adkins, and Carol Everhart. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Knauff officiating with burial to follow at the Silvercreek Township Cemetery in Jamestown. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
