Cathy Jayne Merritt-McDaniel

CATHY JAYNE MERRITT MCDANIEL, age 65, of Washington CH, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 3:55 p.m. at Carriage Court of Washington CH.

She was born on October 3, 1952 in Fayette County to Leo and Medrith Strausbaugh Merritt. She was a 1971 graduate of Washington High School. Cathy had worked as a credit analyst for Sunbelt Rental in Columbus until her retirement in 2015. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, shopping, and being with her family and grandchildren.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary McDaniel; and siblings, Gale, Leo Jr., and David Merritt.

Survivors include her children, Geoff (Patti) Waddell, and Holly Cottrill; grandchildren, Adam and Matthew Waddell, and Kaitlin and Aidan Cottrill; and siblings, Sharon (David) May, Grace McKenzie, Danny (Lydia) Merritt. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Carriage Court and Ohio’s Hospice of Fayette County, including: Nancy Bennett, Lana Elrich, Kris Wright, Amber Frazier, Julie Mosney, and Pastor Jeff Davis.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Church with Pastor Jeff Davis officiating. In keeping with Cathy’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
