Denise Dorothy Risbeck

DENISE DOROTHY RISBECK, age 65, of Washington CH, formerly of Canton, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at Court House Manor.

She was born on April 10, 1953 in Salem, Ohio to Donald Earl and Agnes Stephanie Kosch Biddle. She was a 1971 graduate of Salem High School, received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Cincinnati, and later went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Education from Marygrove College. She began her professional career as a Medical Technologist at the Lutheran Medical Center in Cleveland, taught Jazzercise for over ten years, and then found her true calling as a high school biology teacher at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio, retiring after nineteen years of service. She would be quick to tell you she taught because she loved the students and it showed in the lives of those who passed through her classroom, many returning for years afterward to keep that connection alive.

Denise was a longtime active member at the Greenwood Christian Church in Canton, Ohio and had also attended the Heritage Memorial Church. Her deep faith, positive perspective, and love for the Lord were reflected daily in every interaction she had, many times with total strangers! She enjoyed dancing, traveling, cooking, and baking her famous chocolate chip cookies. Her greatest earthly joy came from being with her family. Her precious children and grandchildren provided a constant source of pride, laughter, and purpose to her life.

Denise was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Constance Biddle, Elaine Biddle, and Carl Biddle.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, Thomas Robert “Tom” Risbeck, whom she married on June 10, 1972; children, Ben (Eileen) Risbeck, and Cheryl (Jason) Binegar; grandchildren, Bella Risbeck, Eva Risbeck, Braden Binegar, and Hannah Binegar; and brothers, Larry Biddle, and Warren (Marie) Biddle. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Church with Pastor Tony Amerine and Pastor Bruce Morrison officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
