Dwight Brown Obituary

DWIGHT THOMAS BROWN, age 74, of Washington CH, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on December 2, 1943 in Fayette County to Charles and Grace Sollars Brown. He was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School. Dwight proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. He had worked as a concrete finisher for many years. Dwight had coached Pony League Football, Baseball, and had also assisted with the Eastside Wrestling Club. Later in life, he enjoyed watching his granddaughter, Haley, compete in tennis tournaments and softball; his grandsons, Collier, Cody, and Jake, wrestle, play baseball, and carry on his football legacy. He also enjoyed sharing his knowledge of sports, showing off his first and only great-grandson, and being with his family.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Darrell Brown, James Brown, Terry Brown, Janice Bell, Helen Geesling, and Glenna Milstead.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Sue Anders Brown, whom he married on March 15, 1969; children, Terri Heidler, Travis Brown, and Blanton (Christy) Brown; grandchildren, Haley (Braden) Atkins, Collier Brown, Cody Brown, Jake Bashor, and Calli Randell; great-grandson, Bowen Atkins; siblings, Stan (Diann) Brown, Doris (Roger) Hays, and Gail (Bill) Forrest; brother-in-law, Ronald Geesling; sister-in-law, Helen Brown; and his loyal canine companion, Maddie. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Mell Wickensimer officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In keeping with Dwight’s wishes, cremation will take place after the service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Ohio’s Hospice of Fayette County, 222 N. Oakland Ave., Washington CH, OH 43160.
