Gloria Jean Carson

GLORIA JEAN CARSON, age 71, of Leesburg, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 at her home.

She was born on April 24, 1946 in Greenfield to the late Leon and Margene Sullivan Cook. She obtained her GED and then attended Southern State Community College where she received a degree in nursing. She had worked as an LPN at Carlton Manor and Maple View Manor in Bainbridge, Ohio. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening, and being with her family. Gloria was known for being the “little mother hen.”

Survivors include her husband, Bill McKenzie, whom she married on December 11, 2015; her children, Bruce Carson, and Melissa Swift; grandchildren, Miranda Russell, Kayla Taylor, Derick Carson, Rachel Johnson, and Richard “Rickey” Russell II; 9 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cheri Carson; siblings, Dan (Carolyn) Cook, Jim (Sharon) Cook, Deborah (Bill) Finnegan, and Robert “Buddy” Cook. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Jim Cook and Debbie Finnegan officiating with burial to follow at the Greenfield Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
