OPAL LEE SHILTZ, age 84, of Washington CH, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 5:48 p.m. at her home.
She was born on January 30, 1934 in Claiborne, Tennessee to Jasper and Lilly Hall Brooks. Opal stayed at home to care for her husband and nine children. She had been a member at the Good Hope Community Church for many years. Opal was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed raising her chickens, vacationing to Tennessee, taking long rides, and being with her family.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Mason Shiltz, whom she married on November 24, 1951; son, Larry Shiltz; grandchildren, Lori Shiltz, Emma Shiltz, and Larry Shiltz Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Tanner Harris, Kenyon Harris, Broderick Harris, and Braylon Harris.
Survivors include her children, Linda (Mark) Brown, Roger (Melodie) Shiltz, Brenda (Chuck) Showalter, Carolyn (Kenny) Bruce, Jerry Shiltz, Candy (Kenneth) Bruce, Sandy (Jimmy Russell) Shiltz-Bruce, and Rita (Donnie Huff) Shiltz; grandchildren, Jeff (Kim) Shiltz, Angel (Troy) Payton, Roger Jr. (Danielle) Shiltz, Traci (Ricky) Harris, Chuckie Showalter, Kelly Hammons, Kenny Jr. (Jamie) Bruce, Courtney (Jason) Penrod, Tyler Shiltz, Cadet Shiltz, Heather Bruce, Jerry Bruce, Larry Bruce, Kurt Bruce, D.J. Huff, and Ashlee Huff; great-grandchildren, Savanna, Leighton, Logan, Caden, Wyatt, Lilly, Ella, Alex, Cassie, Hunter, Caylin, Carter, Karleigh, Kendyl, Kolsten, Austin, Aiden, Addysn, Ashton, Adalynn, Adric, Abigail, Azaylee, Haydn, Hadleigh, and Kobe; and one great-great grandson, Hudson. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at the Highlawn Cemetery with Kenneth Bruce officiating.
