Stephen Phillip Merritt

STEPHEN PHILLIP MERRITT, age 70, of Grove City, formerly of Washington CH, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 5:46 p.m. at the Grant Medical Center.

He was born on July 5, 1948 in Franklin County to Ralph Waldo and Peggy Lou Carson Merritt. He was a 1966 graduate of Washington High School. Stephen had been employed by Macy’s in Columbus, formerly known as Lazarus, for over twenty years. He enjoyed bowling, watching football, and being with his family.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Sharon Kay Merritt, Jacqueline Elaine Iseman, Ralph Garry Merritt, Timothy Gene Merritt, and Rell Christopher Merritt.

Survivors include his sister, Rebecca (John) Griswold; sister-in-law, Marty Merritt; brother-in-law, Gene Iseman; nieces, Melissa (Dave) Lindsey, Amanda (Travis) Burris, Lana (Alister) McKenzie, Leah Lindsey, Lori (Jim) Davis, Peggy (Jerry) Daugherty, and April (Anthony) Adkins; and nephews, Jeff (Tamie) Merritt, and Dakota Griswold. Also surviving are several great nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
