September 16, 1955 – January 5, 2025
ALAN DALE KNISLEY, age 69, of Washington Court House, passed away at 4:55 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe. Born on September 16, 1955, in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Pearl J. and Mary L. Sword Knisley. On November 2, 2022, he married the former Valerie L. Davis, who survives.
Alan was a 1973 graduate of Miami Trace High School. He went on to serve his country in the United States Navy and was stationed on the USS Nimitz, one of the largest warships in the world. After returning home, he worked for more than forty years as a Horse Trainer at various race tracks, the last one being at Beaulah Park in Grove City. In Alan's spare time, he enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and watching the Cleveland Browns.
In addition to his wife, Alan is survived by three children, Dale (Jessica) Knisley, Brandon Floyd and Bailey Floyd; his grandchildren, Kirstein Knisley, Alyssa Abrams, Chase Knisley, Jaden Knisley, Jorden Shaw and Delilah Floyd; and nine great-grandchildren and one on the way. Also surviving are his siblings, Phyllis (Bill) Yeazel and Donna (Gary) Moore along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Vause and his brother, Thomas Knisley.
In keeping with Alan's wishes, cremation has taken place and no viewing will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in the New Bridge Church, 220 E. Court Street, Washington C.H., Ohio 43160 with Pastor Chase Knisley officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Fayette County Honor Guard at the start of the service.
