Obituary

AMELIA ROSE BURNS, age 89, of Jeffersonville, OH, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, July 8, 2022, peacefully in her home. She was surrounded by her sisters and other loved ones.

Amelia was born in Jeffersonville Ohio on March 27, 1933, to the late Earl Pleasant and Maude (Lane) Burns. Amelia was affectionately known as "Millie" to many. She was educated in the Jeffersonville school system and graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1951. She worked as a civil servant at WPAFB rising through the ranks and ending her career as a Supply Specialist in Logistics, retiring after 33 years of exemplary service.

One Friday at a revival in, Jeffersonville, OH, under the preaching of Evangelist Hargrave, on September 18, 1964, she gave her heart to Jesus. She was then baptized by Pastor Howell on October 25, 1964, at the age of 33. Amelia was a member of The Church of God in Jeffersonville for her entire walk with The Lord and worked tirelessly towards Kingdom Matters until quite recently. She witnessed to her love of Jesus everywhere she went through her life and her deeds. Amelia enjoyed life and had many activities that bought her joy including spending time with her sister, Mary Lee, driving, music, arts and crafts like crocheting, making dolls, knitting and pouring guidance and love into countless nieces and nephews. Amelia bought and received great joy in life, singing and praising the Lord, which many witnessed, even in her final days.

In addition to her parents, Amelia was preceded in death by brothers Gayle Burns, Ellsworth "Chuck" Burns Sr., Warren Burns, Calvin Burns, George Burns, sisters Margaret Nooks, Joella Scott and Margine Greene.

Amelia is survived by her sisters and dearest friends, Mary Lee Burns of Jeffersonville and Blanca Burns-McKee of Jamestown, three goddaughters Rosemary (Brian) Braxton of Maineville, Naomi McKee of Dayton, Kristen Day of Colorado Springs, raised as a brother, Earl "Skip" (Dorothy) Burns of Columbus, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and community friends.

Homegoing Service will be held on Saturday July 16, 2022, at 11am at The Church of God, 25 Vine St., Jeffersonville, OH, with Pastor James Smith officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church that morning from 10am until the time of service. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery immediately following.

IN AN EFFORT TO PROTECT THE ELDERS OF THE FAMILY, NO ONE WILL BE PERMITTED TO ATTEND WITHOUT A MASK AND SOCIAL DISTANCING EFFORTS WILL BE OBSERVED AT ALL TIMES. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A MASK ONE WILL BE PROVIDED.
