ARTHUR WILLIAM DEAKYNE, age 86, of Washington Court House, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024 at his home. Born on June 5, 1938 Grove City, Ohio, he was the son of the late Rollo and Ona Peters Deakyne. He married his wife of more than 60 years, the former Catherine Mae Riley who preceded him in death on July 15, 2023.

Arthur was a graduate of Wayne School in Good Hope, he then went on to serve his country in the United States Navy and worked on the USS Intrepid. After returning to Fayette County Arthur was employed with Armco Steel until his retirement. Arthur was an active member at the South Side Church of Christ where he and his wife were longtime youth group leaders. He also had previously had been a Boy Scout Leader, enjoyed being a lifetime member of the Fayette County Fish and Game Association and was known as a great cook.

Survivors include his children, Tina (Andrea) Galyn of Toledo and Robert Jeffrey Sr. of Alabama; his grandchildren, Carmedy Buick, Jordan West, Robert Jeffrey Jr. and Jackie Sue Jeffery-Youngs. Also surviving is his sister in-law, Patty Riley and his niece, Linda Dennison along with a host of friends.

In addition to his loving wife and his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn Michaels and Charles Deakyne.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 in South Side Church of Christ with Pastor Todd Mauer officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Fayette County Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
