BARBARA ELLEN BICK, age 91, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at her daughter's home while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on June 29, 1934 in Fayette County to the late Loren Eugene (Frances) Butcher and Anna Marie (Kelley) Wayne Rayburn. She was a graduate of Washington High School and attended Clark State University in Springfield for a brief time. Barbara worked as a nursing assistant for many years; she loved caring for the elderly. Barbara was a member at the Gregg Street Church of Christ in Christian Union where she oversaw the Sunbeam Children's Choir and taught Sunday school. She was a thirty-year member at the Nazarene Church in Washington CH where she was highly active in the children's ministry and taught Sunday school. Barbara worked with the bus ministry, helped with VBS, and directed the adult and children's choir for many years. She also attended the Chapel of Hope Church in Greenfield where she taught Sunday school for ten years. She enjoyed teaching children about Jesus, going to Church, singing, gardening, canning, growing her flowers, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Clyde and Clara Kelley; son, Marlin Ray Bick, grandson, Nick Allen Bick; and siblings, Wayne Rayburn, Jeanie (Rayburn) Adams, Priscilla (Rayburn) Adams, Alice (Rayburn) Puckett, Richard Butcher, and Charlotte (Butcher) Barnett.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, Marvin Wylie Bick, whom she married on January 20, 1955; children, Leonard (Barb) Bick, Marva (Larry) Fleak, and Dennis (Kim) Bick; grandchildren, Trevis Bick, Troy (Rachel) Bick, Matthew Wylie Bick, Brooke (Jameson) Waddell, Wesley (Taylor) Fleak, Johnna (Cary) Howland, Chasity Bick, and Chelsea Bick; eighteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Hughey (Mary) Rayburn, Gary Rayburn, and Marsha Perry; and special granddaughter-in-law, Ginny Bick. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 301 E. East St., Washington CH, OH 43160, with Jamey Campbell officiating and burial will follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the Church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
