BERYL THOMAS RAYPOLE, age 78, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 10:29 a.m. at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on October 25, 1936 in Allen County, Indiana to John and Isabelle Madden Raypole. He retired in 1991 after 40 years of service from the Laborers' International Union Local #423. After his retirement, he assisted Dan Kelley in his farming operation for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending much of his time hunting, fishing, cutting wood, boating and biking. He especially enjoyed searching for Indian artifacts and was a member of the Archaeology Society of Ohio. He was a wonderful woodworker, making many pieces of furniture over the years. During his retirement, he spent many good times drinking coffee with his buddies at McDonalds and the Fairgrounds.
Beryl proudly served his country in the US Army 3rd Armor Division as a Specialist 4 from 1959 to 1962. He was stationed in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. He was a long time member of the Crossroads Christian Church (First Christian).
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Edwards Raypole, whom he married on April 12, 1957; his daughter Kelly Raypole; brother Gerald (Sue) Raypole and sister Pauline (Jerry) Fife; in-laws Richard Edwards, Barbara White, Phyllis (Don) Joseph and Jean Raypole; very special nephew Beryl (Lisa) Raypole as well as several nieces and nephews.
Beryl was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Foster, Charles, Wilmer and John Raypole and sister, Ruth Holkema and in-laws, Clarence White, John Harrison and Don Edwards.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 12:00 noon at the Crossroads Church with Todd Maurer and Jon Creamer officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
