BETTY RUTH CHANEY, age 89, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 8:40 a.m. at the Court House Manor Nursing Home. She was born on November 13, 1926 in Highland County to William and Anna Marie Cadwallader McConnell. She was a 1944 graduate of Greenfield McClain High School. She retired from Sears Distribution Center. Betty was a member of the South Side Church for many years where she was involved in various activities, and the Fayette County Commission on Aging. She enjoyed quilting, reading, and sewing. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law, Peggy Chaney, siblings, Dorothy Nicely, Barbara McConnell, and Jim McConnell. Survivors include her children, Rebecca (Rob Herron) Petitt, Kathy (Gordon) Shuler, John Chaney, and George (Dianna) Chaney; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and sister, Jane Clay. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Milledgeville-Plymouth Cemetery.
