BETTY JOANNE CHRISTMAN, age 85, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 9:45 a.m. at the Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born on July 20, 1929 in Ross County to Harlan and Leota Penrod Jinks. She was a 1947 graduate of Buckskin High School. She had worked for many years at the Murphy and Plaza Cinemas in Wilmington for 27 years. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Norma Rose, Margaret Reno, Wanita Stewart, Sue and Hazel Jinks and Polly Cotterell and brother Carl Jinks. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Harold Christman, whom she married on January 5, 1959; her children Steven P. (Juanita) Christman, Harold Douglas Christman and Eddie Dean Christman; grandchildren Angela M. Christman- Shelton, Stephanie Neeley, Allen Cooke and Larry Cooke; nine great-grandchildren including Travis J. and Chris Shelton. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Mike Chamberlain officiating.
