BETTY MAE HALL, age 84, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Court House Manor.
She was born on November 7, 1941in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert O. and Ruth (Sherwood) Whiting. She was a graduate of Linden-McKinley High School in Columbus. Betty had worked as a secretary for her former family business, Northway Taxicab Co, she also worked as a grain grader at Keynes Brothers Inc. in Jeffersonville, Ohio. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary-Fraternal Order of Eagles #423 in Washington CH where she held various offices. She enjoyed shopping, going to the casino, and spending time with her family.
Betty was preceded in death by her birth father, Robert O. Whiting; her mother and the father who raised her, Ruth (John E.) Whiting Stinson; her beloved husband, Ralph E. Hall; son, Robert E. Berwanger; and brothers, Fred S. Whiting, and William A. Whiting.
Survivors include her daughter, Rita (Bill) McDonald; grandchildren, Jonathon (Cortney) Scott, Robyn Pruitt, Matt (Hope) McDonald, Aleah (Gabe) Page, and Travis Berwanger; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Marty (James) Amick of Columbus; and special friends, Ruth Redden, and Sharon Anthony. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Adena Hospice for providing such excellent care to our mother during this most difficult time.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m.
