IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Lou
Stoops
August 8, 1934 – January 22, 2024
BETTY LOU STOOPS, age 89, of Hilliard, Ohio, formerly of Washington C. H., passed away on Monday, 22 January 2024, at the Kobacker House in Columbus after a brief stay.
Betty was born on 8 August 1934 in Fayette County, to the late Dearl L. and Ada M. (Graves) Bapst. She was a graduate of Washington High School. Betty started her career as a switch board operator at Ohio Bell in Washington C. H., gradually moving into positions with greater responsibility in Columbus. By her retirement, Ohio Bell had become AT&T and switch boards had long become digital telecommunications. Betty enjoyed reading John Grisham novels, listening to music, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She was also lovingly known by her family as the "Queen of QVC" for the joy she took in ordering presents for loved ones. She took pleasure in cooking and gardening, and she had a keen sense of humor.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her daughters Linda Stoops and Sheryl Detillion.
Survivors include her children Richard W. Stoops (and daughter-in-law Margaret Harper) and Lisa A. Bunch; grandchildren Michael J. Detillion and Ami J. Detillion (and Jon Conley); several great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Bisciotti; and her beloved canine companion, Andy. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
The graveside service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at the Washington Cemetery with Danny Dodds officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Dr., Columbus, OH 43214 or to the (ASPCA) American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, ASPCA, PO Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.summersfuneralhome.com
