Obituary

BETTY JANE WHITESIDE-WISE, age 79, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.

She was born on May 22, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Rev. Harry Lester and Betty Louise (Moore) Archer. Betty obtained her GED. She cleaned houses for a living for thirty-plus years; this career allowed Betty to also be a homemaker and stay-at-home mother. Betty attended the Crossroads United Baptist Church in Columbus. She enjoyed bowling, camping, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Gene Ann Moore, and siblings, William "Bill" Archer, Delbert Archer, Robert Archer, Virginia Archer, Phyllis Archer, June Wise, Pat Gibson, and Janet Holsinger.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, David Eugene Wise, whom she married on February 18, 2017; her children, Anita (Andy) Surritt, Tonya Seitz, and Billy (Jeanine) Whiteside; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, James "Jimmy" Archer; and a special granddaughter, Nicole Brown. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Jeb Cain officiating with burial to follow at the Bloomingburg Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4-7:00 p.m.
