Obituary

BONNIE JEAN SCHNEIDER KELLENBERGER, age 101, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at her home.

She was born on May 12, 1925 in Newark, Ohio to the late Clarence and Thelma Shrigley. She was a 1943 graduate of Huron High School. After graduation she went to work at Plumbrook Research Facility in Sandusky, Ohio and later worked at Philco in Sandusky, Ohio. She married Charles Schneider on April 16,1946.

In 1953, they moved to Washington CH. Charles passed away in 1970. She married her second husband, Royce Kellenberger, in 1978. Royce passed away in 2002.

Bonnie worked at the Fayette County Commission on aging for thirty-five years. She retired at the age of 87. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Fayette County Commission on Aging, and was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. In Bonnie’s younger years she was an avid golfer and bowler. In her later years she enjoyed playing cards with friends and spending time with her family.

Bonnie is survived by three children, Donna (Frank) Johnson, Randy (Monica) Schneider, and Tammy (Dwayne) McKinney; grandchildren, Brad (Maggie) Craig, Brian (Christina) Craig, Tina (Chad) Conrad, Teri (Shane) Landrum, Todd Schneider, Allison (Jon) Dean, Max (Mark Banks) McKinney; great-grandchildren; Audrey Craig, Kaylee Craig, Tyler Keller, Drew Howard, Kale (Taylor Crowe) Howard, Sydney (Nick McFarland) Landrum, Tabby (Brett) Lewis, Shalyne (Daniel) Larue, Tate Landrum, Garrett Craig, Kelby (Eric) Krebs, Owen Craig, Leo Dean, and Emilia Dean; great-great-grandchildren; Bo, Aidyn, and Cade McFarland, Addalyn Larue, Zoey and Scottlyn Keller, Saylor Howard, and Kinnleigh Howard. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Jerry Keefe; siblings, Betty and Hugh Calvert, Marjorie and Jim Speaks, Bill and Pam Shrigley, and Donnie Shrigley; nephew, Gary Calvert; niece, Lee Ann Nesselhauf; and special friends, Mildred Murphy, and Vicki McKinney.

The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers, Debi McKinney, and Heather Daniels, and to her Heartland Hospice Team; Courtney, Teresa, Morgan, Michelle, and Maria.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to The First Presbyterian Church, 214 N. Hinde St., Washington CH, OH 43160.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Brand officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
