Obituary

BRIAN LEE TILLIS, age 63, of Washington CH, was called by the Lord to enter into eternal rest on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at his home. His death was sudden and unexpected and his presence will truly be missed. Brian never met a stranger and was always ready to greet people with his warm smile.

He was born on January 8, 1961 in Fayette County to the late Charles Everett and Lois Jane (Dearth) Tillis. He was a 1981 graduate of Washington High School. Brian proudly served his county in the United States Army in Germany from 1981-1984; after receiving his honorable discharge he joined the Army National Guard from 1986-1992. Brian was also a faithful member at the South Side Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by the love of his life, Dorothy Lee Tillis, whom he married on June 9, 2011; grandparents, Walter G. and Dorcas R. (Woodruff) Tillis, and Alfonso Boas Dearth and Cora (Sword) Dearth; and brother-in-law, Steven M. Baker.

Survivors include his siblings, Charles Tillis, Jr. of Indiana, Robin Baker of Jeffersonville, Brenda (Gary) Burkett of Washington CH, Carol (Jerry) Lee of South Salem, and Gregg Tillis of Washington CH.

Although he did not have children of his own, he was blessed with several nieces and nephews who loved him very much; Jason Kidder, Skyler and Jordan Charles, Melissa McCoy, Michael CB Baker, Teah (Robert) D'Allessandrias, Kendra Ryan, Chad Arnold, April (TJ) Keaton, Amy (Brian) Try, Nathan Tillis, and Courtney Tillis. Brian is also survived by several aunts and uncles, Virgil and Kathi Jones, Herman and Karen Rayburn, Gary and Dixie Dearth, and Mildred "Mid" Whitt; as well as several cousins, great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Memorial contributions are suggested to "The 55 and Alive Senior Group" at the South Side Church of Christ, 921 S. Fayette St., Washington CH, OH 43160.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at the Washington Cemetery on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Todd Mauer officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.summersfuneralhome.com
