CARL MASON SHILTZ, age 85, of Washington CH, went to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 3:31 p.m. at the St. Ann's Mt. Carmel Hospital. He was born on July 24, 1931 in London, Ohio to Cameron and Nora Duncan Shiltz. He worked as a custodian at the Bloomingburg School. Carl had attended the Good Hope Community Church. He enjoyed watching wrestling and the Wheel of Fortune, traveling with his wife and spending time with his family. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Larry Shiltz, grandson, L.J. Shiltz, granddaughter, Emma Grace Mercy Shiltz, 4 great-grandchildren and brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Opal Brooks Shiltz, whom he married on November 26, 1951; his children, Linda (Mark) Brown, Roger (Melodie) Shiltz, Brenda (Chuck) Showalter, Carolyn (Kenny) Bruce, Jerry Shiltz, Candy (Kenneth) Bruce, Sandy Bruce (James Russell), Rita (Donnie) Huff and daughter-in-law, Ronda Shiltz; 17 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; sister, Georgia Roush as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The viewing, funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Summers Funeral Home.
