IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christina Lynn
(Reed) Hayes
January 21, 1963 – March 7, 2026
CHRISTINA LYNN (REED) HAYES, age 63, of Jeffersonville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
She was born on January 21, 1963 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Charles Marion and Margie Ann (Deck) Reed. After graduating from Westland High School in 1981, she served as a communications specialist with the 160th Air Refueling Group of the Ohio Air National Guard at Rickenbacker Air Force Base. Following her service, Chris built a lengthy career with United Parcel Service, where she worked for thirty-two years before retiring in 2018.
Chris faced kidney disease for nearly her entire life with remarkable strength and determination. Over the years, she received three kidney transplants-extraordinary gifts made possible through the generosity of organ donors, including one from her sister, one from her niece, and one from an anonymous donor. These selfless acts extended her life and allowed her to continue sharing her enthusiasm and positivity with those around her. Most recently, she battled pancreatic cancer, which ultimately led to her passing.
A talented reflexologist, Chris had a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures. She was a lifelong learner who was especially interested in holistic health and alternative approaches to wellbeing. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, biking, and spending time with her beloved Yorkie, Sam. Those who knew her will remember her resilience, her thoughtful curiosity, and her gratitude for each new chapter of life.
In addition to her parents, Chris was preceded in death by her husband, David Alan Hayes, and brother, Jeffery Paul Reed.
She is survived by her siblings, Charles Reed, Sally (Reed) Gearheart, Cathy (Reed) Francis, and David Reed, along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear friends.
There will be no formal funeral services. Details for a Celebration of Life will be shared by the family at a later date.
Chris's life stands as a testament to resilience, love, and the life-giving power of organ donation. Her family remains forever grateful for the extraordinary generosity that gave her so many additional years to live and love. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Chris's memory to organizations that support organ donation and kidney disease research, such as Donate Life America (donatelife.net) or the National Kidney Foundation (kidney.org).
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.summersfuneralhome.com
Celebration of Life to be held at a later date
