DANNY R. MERRITT, age 67, of Washington CH, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 12:13 p.m. at the OSU Wexner Center. He was born on October 7, 1946 in Fayette County to Carl and Gladys Shaw Merritt. He was a 1964 Belfast High School graduate and later retired from the construction business. He proudly served his country in the Ohio National Guard. He loved Nascar, especially Jeff Gordon and golfing. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy "Dottie" McGraw Merritt, brothers Donald, Rodger, Herbert and Norman Merritt and sister Ruthann Merritt. Survivors include his children Renee (Tim) Holbrook and Missy Merritt; step-children Doug (Yvonne) McGraw and Rhonda (Bill) Robinson; 3 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren; siblings Joyce (Richard) Powell, Shirley Crawford, Mary Blair, Linda (Steve) Dungan, Bonnie (Tim) Fleener, Benjamin Merritt, David Merritt, Jerry Merritt and Phillip (Karen) Merritt; sister-in-law Shirley Merritt as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage Memorial Church, 1867 US Rt. 35 NW, with Rev. Danny Purdum officiating with burial to follow at the Good Hope Cemetery.
