October 16, 1930 – April 9, 2023
DAWSON MINNEHAN, JR., age 92, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at Adena Fayette Medical Center.
He was born on October 16, 1930 in Franklin County to the late Dawson, Sr. and Dolly (Justice) Minnehan Floyd. Dawson proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He owned and operated Minnehan Painting in the local area for many years. He was an active member at the Fayette County Commission on Aging on S. Elm St. and he also attended South Side Church of Christ. He enjoyed painting on canvas, dancing, skating in his younger years, and boating.
In addition to his parents, Dawson was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sandra Lee (Hatfield) Minnehan; his son, Jay Minnehan; and brothers, Charles, James, LeRoy, and Franklin Minnehan.
Survivors include his special companion, Sadie E. Copas; his children, Katrina Minnehan, Brenda Volpe, and Randy Minnehan; future son-in-law, Nick Greenly; siblings, Shirley McFann, RaVonne Howard, and Arthur Minnehan, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Flint. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Arthur Minnehan, Jr. officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and burial will be held at the Highlawn Cemetery at a later date.
