DENNIS DOUGLAS "DOUG" BRYAN, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 4:52 a.m. at the Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.

He was born on September 20, 1943 in Greene County to Forest and Agnes Lannon Bryan. He was a graduate of Greeneview High School in Jamestown and attended Cedarville University for two years. Doug had owned and operated his own business since 1969, Bryan's Home Improvements. He and his wife attended the Washington Avenue House of Prayer. He enjoyed long drives, old cars, hunting, making jokes, and being with his family.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers-in-law, Bill Butcher, Gerald Butcher, and Bob Hurley.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn M. Butcher Bryan, whom he married on April 17, 1965; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Michelle Bryan; grandchildren; Melinda Bryan and her significant other, Shawn Dunaway, and Aaron (Jody) Bryan; great-grandchildren, Stephany, Suzanne, Shawn, Silas, Gabe, Gavin, and Noah; siblings, Don (Alice) Bryan, and Rick (Diane) Bryan; sisters-in-law, Nellie Hurley, Jeannie Cornell, and Alice Butcher; and brothers-in-law, John Butcher, and Merrill (Meda) Butcher. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Butcher officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place after the service.
