DEWEY FLOYD GIBSON, JR., age 88, of Frankfort, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.
He was born on December 14, 1937 in Pike County, Ohio to the late Dewey Floyd, Sr. and Tora (VanDyke) Gibson. He was a 1956 graduate of the Chillicothe High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Dewey retired in 1996 from The Mead Paper Company in Chillicothe where he worked as an accountant for many years. He was a faithful member at the Maple Grove Church in Chillicothe. As a teenager, Dewey enjoyed playing baseball and tennis; he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and was also an avid Ohio State fan.
In addition to his parents, Dewey was preceded in death by his son, Eric Gibson; stepdaughter, Lori Allen; and sister, Louise (Jordan) Waller.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Carolyn Ann (Fillmore) Gibson, whom he married on September 10, 1994; his son, Craig Gibson; stepsons, Rex (Krista) Allen, Jerry (Kim) Allen, and Mark Allen; grandchildren, Clarissa (Kevin) Fairchild, Corey (Haley) Allen, BJ Allen, Kelsey (Bryce) Pearson, and Brittaney Allen; five great-grandchildren; brother, Joe (Donna) Gibson; aunt, Alice Gibson; cousins, Linda Faddes, and John (Barb) Gibson; and his nephew, Gary (Sheila) Hale.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Maple Grove Church, 1054 Maple Grove Road, Chillicothe, OH 45601, with Pastor Brett Smith officiating with burial to follow at the Bainbridge Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the Church on Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
