DONALD E. PALMER SR., age 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 4:50 p.m. at the St. Catherine's Manor Nursing Home. He was born on September 26, 1931 in Clinton County to Elmer and Ruth Dunn Palmer. He was a 1941 graduate of Washington High School. He retired from Armco Steel after 37 years of service. Don was a member of the Anchor Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, antique tractors, collecting John Deere memorabilia and visiting the Amish country. He also served as an auxiliary Policeman and Deputy Sheriff. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Harriett Cline Palmer and his grandson, Ronnie. Survivors include his children Donald Palmer Jr., Pamela (Jim) Stapleton and Teresa (David) Streitenberger; step-children Mike (Jenny) Curl, Charles "Skip" (Vicki) Curl and Kim (David) Murray; grandchildren Tara, Carissa, Ben, Brady, Donnie, Angel and Gabriel; great-grandchildren Lauren, Rachael, Isabella, Avari, Claire and Cate; several step-grandchildren; siblings Ron (Barb) Palmer and Joan French; nieces and nephews Ronnie, Sherry, Tony and Mary Ann as well as a host of friends and church family. Also surviving is his beloved dog, Sidney. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Anchor Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Griffith officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call the Summers Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. and again at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
