EARL ERVIN HOWARD, age 67, of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 6:02 a.m. at the Dayton Hospice House. He was born on August 9, 1947 in Chillicothe, Ohio to John and Bertha Mossbarger Howard. Prior to his retirement, he had worked at Sugar Creek Packing for many years. He enjoyed watching sports, John Wayne movies, tinkering in the yard, woodworking, helping his neighbors and always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Most of all, Earl loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and the love of his life, Beatrice. Earl was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Lenvel "Bud" Howard and Ambros Thurman Howard. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Pepper Howard, whom he married on December 16, 1968; his children Sandra (Donald) Kelley, Larry (Wanda) Howard and Dana (Kenny) Shields all of Hillsboro; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; siblings Ruthann Thornberry, Linda Woods both of Texas and Joyce (Jim) Johnson of Springfield as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor David Stulley officiating with burial to follow at the Fairview Cemetery.
