EDNA MAE SMITH, age 90, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at the Adena Fayette Medical Center.
She was born on April 1, 1935, in Greenup, Kentucky to the late Ross and Sina (Spradlin) Winters. She was a 1953 graduate of Wayne-Simon Kenton High School in Leescreek, Ohio. She retired after twenty years at the age of 89 from the Walmart Deli in Washington CH; she was previously employed at Buckeye Molding, Bundy Tubing, and Mac Tools.
She enjoyed playing Scrabble, working puzzles, and doing word searches. She also loved traveling to Illinois, Tennessee, and Kentucky to visit with her family.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond D. Smith, whom she married on April 4, 1953; granddaughter, Kelly Jo (Smith) Annon; and siblings, Anna Virginia Winters, Evelyn L. (Winters) Flint, and Gene Winters.
Survivors include children, Roger (Janet) Smith of Leesburg, Ohio, Debbie (Delbert) Strahler of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, and Donna (Dwayne) Rittenhouse of Knoxville, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren, thirty-one greatgrandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Grace) Winters, sisters-in-law; Katherine (Tom) Pauley of Naples, Florida, Gerry (Allen) Smith of Washington CH, and Dorothy (Ryan) Smith of Sabina. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Joy Stanforth officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation will follow, and she will be placed with her beloved husband in Washington Cemetery.
