ELIZABETH PEARL "LIBBY" BROWN, age 98, of Washington CH, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 3:29 a.m. at the OSU Wexner Medical Center. She was born on September 25, 1918 in Bloomingburg, to Clay and Iva Havens Southworth. She had attended the Bloomingburg and Washington CH schools. She had been a homemaker and had worked at the API during WWII. She had been an active member for over 52 years at the First Christian Church where she was a member of the Loyal Daughters Sunday School class and the Women's Fellowship and Martha Guild. Most recently she was a member of the South Side Church of Christ. Libby enjoyed walking, visiting the nursing homes, cooking and loved spending time with her family. Libby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ward Brown, siblings, Floyd Southworth, Marie Maston, and Helen Parker and son-in-law, Gary Dean Thompson. Survivors include her children, Susan Thompson and Jeff (Kathy) Brown; grandchildren, Tasha Brown-Smith and Tyler Brown; great-grandchild, Vera Smith; brothers, Harold (Joann) Southworth and Bill (Judy) Southworth; as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the South Side Church of Christ with Steve Henderson officiating. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family at the Washington Cemetery.
