ELMER DEAN SANDERSON, age 75, of Washington CH, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, with his family by his side.

He was born on August 10, 1949 in Fayette County to the late Eldon Dewey and Agnes Isabelle (Ackley) Sanderson. Elmer proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968-1970 and was released with an honorable discharge. He was a 1987 graduate of Southern State Community College where he studied nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, spending time with his family and grandchildren, and had a special love for his animals.

In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his siblings, Vickie Bartruff, Robert, George, Ralph, Johnny, and Alvin Sanderson.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Judy Elizabeth (Phillips) Sanderson whom he married on November 9, 1968; children, Judy "Sissy", Courtney, Matthew (Ashley), and Christopher (Emily); grandchildren, Skyla, Elena, Daniel, and Isaac, siblings, Joey, Edward, Brenda, and Patricia, and special friend, Millie.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Carey Hilterbran officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow.
