ELNORA GRACE ARMINTROUT, age 87, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Carriage Court of Washington CH, while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 1, 1935 in Scioto County, Ohio to the late Thomas and Gertrude (Thompson) Honaker.
She was a 1953 graduate of Valley High School in Lucasville, Ohio; after graduation she was hired at the Piketon Atomic Plant. Elnora later worked as a bus driver for Miami Trace. She furthered her education at Ohio University and later obtained her master's degree and Principal's Certificate from the College of Mount Saint Joseph. Elnora began her teaching career as a Title 1 Special Reading teacher at Staunton and Olive Schools in Fayette County; she then transitioned to the Madison Plains School District, teaching first grade. She taught first grade and first and second combination for twenty-four years and then served as Principal for four years. Elnora retired from Madison Plains in 1995 after 31 years of service.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, painting, crafting, wintering in Florida with her late husband, and spending time with her beloved family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Elnora was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Glenn Edward Armintrout, whom she married on September 11, 1954; and siblings, Trent Thomas, George Liburn, Mary Louise Arnold, and Clare "Peg" Fleser.
Survivors include her sons, Edward Glenn "Ed" (Diana Elaine) Armintrout, and Jeffrey Douglas "Jeff" (Angela) Armintrout; grandchildren, Mandy Lynn (Jason) Durose, Lauran Erica (Josh) Creagan, and Justin Jeffrey (Ashley) Armintrout; great-grandchildren, Addie, Jenna, Colton, Gracelyn, Teagan, A.J., and Grace Elizabeth; and sister, Geneva Damron. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bloomingburg Cemetery with Rev. Joe Duvall officiating. Family and friends may visit at the Summers Funeral Home on Friday morning from 11-1:00 p.m.
