ELOISE EVELYN "WINKIE" STRAHLER, age 92, of Bloomingburg, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 6:34 p.m. at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 1, 1926 in Beverly, Ohio to Charles and Nora Peters Beardsley. She spent her early life in the Washington County area. In 1953, she and her husband moved their family to Fayette County. Eloise was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, sewing, cooking, family gatherings, and making quilts for her family. Eloise had once wrote, "Life is too short for hate and not long enough for love".

Eloise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Leo Strahler, whom she married on February 22, 1944; daughter, Debra Jean Strahler; son, Thomas R. "Tom" Strahler; daughter-in-law, Saundra Strahler; six sisters; and eight brothers.

Survivors include her children, Ralph C. "Buster" Strahler, Delbert (Deborah) Strahler, Rose (Tom) Bennington, Steve (Peggy) Strahler, and Lorie (Allen) Johnson; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; twenty-eight great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda Strahler; and special friend, Jean August Sage. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The viewing will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 1-4:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home. In keeping with her wishes, cremation will be observed and a private graveside service will be held at the Bloomingburg Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family.
