ERIC HAVENS, age 57, of Washington CH, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at his home. He was born on July 11, 1968 in Washington CH to the late John Howard, Jr. and Winnie (Knisley) Havens.
Eric was a 1988 graduate of Washington High School and attended Urbana University. Eric was currently employed as a line tech for the Yusa Corporation, where he had worked for thirty years. In his earlier years, he coached Youth Pony League Football, Girls Rec. Softball and Junior High Football in the local area. Eric was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Cubs, and Ohio State fan.
He enjoyed attending Friday night football games, taking trips to Gatlinburg with his wife, and spending quality time with his family and grandchildren.
Those who knew Eric knew him as a strong and quiet fighter through his battle with colon and liver cancer. He faced every tough thing in his life with faith, resilience, and love for those who cared for him, and inspired everyone around him to do the same. Eric radiated strength, grace, and joy in his daily life.
His impact is immeasurable, and his absence is deeply felt by his family and community, his memory will live on in the hearts of many.
In addition to his parents, Eric was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Havens; sister-in-law, Leslie Havens; and his nephew, Nicholas Havens.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Linda Ann (Shaeffer) Havens, whom he married on November 5, 1999; stepdaughter, Angela Murphy; grandchildren, Shawn Murphy, Jr., Kyler Murphy, and Gracie Moore; siblings, Johnny Havens, Tony Havens, Amanda (William) Harper; and his beloved canine companions, Abby and Sissy. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
