ESTER "MAE" JOHNSON, age 88, of Washington CH, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 at St. Catherine's Manor of Washington CH. She was born on January 20, 1934 in Brown County to the late Albert and Myra (Wallace) Dean. On October 14, 1952, she married her loving husband of 70 years, Larry F. Johnson, who survives.
Mae was a graduate of Washington High School. She was a member of the St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church and involved in the Women's Club and also helped with church funeral meals. Mae also helped with the local Red Cross and enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandkids.
In addition to her husband Larry, survivors include her children; Randy (Vicki) Johnson, Mark (Pam) Johnson and Pam Wilt all of Washington Court House, Joni (David) Hennessy of South Carolina and Craig (Lory) Johnson of Delaware. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren; Heather (John) Buyer, Heath (Christy) Johnson, Justin (Melissa) Johnson, Stephanie (Ryan) Whalen, Ashley (Cory) Ward, Nikki (Rusty) Dato, Champ (Faith) Johnson, Joshua (Lisa) Wilt, Jenna (Adam) Allen, Kali Penwell, Jason (Andrea) Hennessy, Melissa (Jamie) Kimbrell, Jacob (Josie) Hennessy, Jack (Alyssa) Hennessy, Maisy Johnson, Anna Johnson and thirty great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and also brother and sister in-law; Ronald (Betty) Dean. Along with her parents, Mae was preceded in death by thirteen brothers and sisters.
In keeping with Mae's wishes cremation has taken place and a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on December 29, 2022 at St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church with burial to follow in the St. Colman Cemetery. No calling hours will be held prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mae's name can be sent to: St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church, 219 S.
