Allen, Jr.
July 30, 1944 – February 19, 2023
FRED HAROLD ALLEN, JR., age 78, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at his home.
He was born on July 30, 1944 in Fayette County to the late Fred Allen, Sr. and Frances West Allen. On November 6, 1965, he married his wife of 54 years, the former Rosann Meyers who preceded him death in November of 2019.
After high school Fred served in the Ohio National Guard. He worked at Armco Steel until his retirement after forty-two years of service. He attended South Side Church of Christ, he was a fifty-three-year member of the Masonic Lodge, the Aladdin Shrine Temple, and the VFW Post 3762. Fred was also a member of the American Legion in Washington CH and the American Legion Riders. Additionally, he was a member of the Rocky Fork Amvets and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 423. Fred enjoyed motorcycles, especially Harley Davidsons and enjoyed riding them while often traveling and camping with his family.
Survivors include his children, Christopher (Kandi) Allen of Nebraska, Joda (Rick) Fagan of Washington CH, and Andrew Allen of Circleville; grandchildren, Taylor (Jon) Jones, Cody (Brooke) Allen, Baley Allen, Summer (Stuart Wyatt) Fagan, Amberly Hudson, and Nikki (John) McDonnell; great-grandchildren, Hadley and Henry Jones, Charlie and Blake Wyatt, Christian, Macie and Miah (Alex Bong) Coe, Caden and Casey Hott, Cameron Kitchen and Brookston McDonnell. Fred is also survived by his brothers, Tom (Kim) Allen and Dave (Dan) Allen; his sister, Kay (Fred) Nevar; sisters-in-law, Debbie Allen and Theresa (Steve) Caplinger; brothers-in-law, Tom (Lilly) Meyers and Gary (Carolina) Meyers; special friend, Patty DeWeese and several nieces, nephews cousins and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Allen.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the South Side Church of Christ with Todd Maurer officiating. A Masonic Service will also be held prior to the start of the service. Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Fayette County Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested in Fred's name to Shriners Hospital of Lexington, 110 Con Terrace, Lexington, KY 40508 or the American Legion Riders, 1240 US-22, Washington Court House, Ohio 43160.
