Fred Oryln
Shadley
April 21, 1943 – April 14, 2026
FRED ORYLN SHADLEY, born April 21, 1943, age 83, passed away quietly and peacefully on April 14, 2026, just seven days shy of his 84th birthday.
Fred was preceded in death by his loving wife, Julia Faye Whiteside Shadley, whom he married on February 9, 1973; his sons, Tex Lee Shadley and John Fred Shadley, his parents, Archie Franklyn Shadley and Martha Pearl Davis Shadley; his sisters, Mary Groves, Evelyn Shepard, and Ruth Ellen Chain; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his beloved pets, who were like his babies.
He is survived by his daughter, Annette Shadley Sizemore; his cherished grandchildren, Madaysia Ky’lie Sizemore, and Chistian Michael Shadley; and a host of nieces and nephews. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and in Grandpa’s eyes, they could do no wrong.
Fred grew up in Milledgeville, Ohio, leaving school at a young age to help support his family. He was a hardworking man his entire life, working on the elevator and then the farm in Bookwalter, Ohio and later retiring from Colonial Stair in Jeffersonville, Ohio.
He loved the country life and enjoyed John Deere tractors and was a loyal Ford man. He enjoyed his cowboy hat and boots, his wife’s cooking, potato chips, and a good root beer—especially RC. He also enjoyed trips to White Castle and was a devoted Washington Redskins fan. He took immense pride in his Native American heritage and loved sharing stories about it.
Fred was a strong, hardworking, and opinionated man who always stood firm in what he believed. Though strict while raising his children, his love showed through his actions—always providing, always making sure others were fed, and always protecting his family. In later years, he became more gentle, especially with his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
He also had a funny side. He was a huge jokester. He was always playing and joking with his kids and grandkids and was well known for riding his lawn mower around town after he stopped driving, often using it to run errands and visit places.
In his later years, Fred grew especially close to his daughter, who stood by his side through everything. He gave his life to Christ, bringing comfort to his family in knowing they will see him again.
Fred lived a full life devoted to his family. He will be remembered as a strong, hardworking man who loved deeply in his own way. His daughter will forever be proud to be his.
Fred will be cremated by Summers Funeral Home and laid to rest at a later date. With no planned services, his daughter has chosen to share his story here.
