GERALD D. PETTIT, age 66, of Greenfield, his journey ended on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at his home. He was born on February 2, 1949 in Londonderry, Ohio to William D. and Liddie Opal Estep Pettit. He had worked at the Washington CH and Sabina Mac Tools and retired after 36 years of service. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He attended the Bible Baptist Temple. He enjoyed working on cars, his fuzzy little "children", Teddy and Jersey. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, brothers William A. Pettit, John W. Pettit, Lester D. Pettit Sr. and Donald W. Pettit and sister, Mary K. Hutchison. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Nesser Pettit, whom he married on August 31, 1974; his children Crystal Jones (Ronnie Hastings) and Gary Pettit (Lisa Sluder); grandchildren Jodi Colley, Brigitte Jones, Alyssa Pettit and Brandon Hastings; step-grandchildren Zach, Taylor and Chase Sluder; sister Lillie Current of Greenfield and brother, Phillip (Linda) Pettit of Mississippi as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Lyn Jackson officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery.
