HAROLD MERRITT, age 69, of Washington CH, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 3:12 p.m. at the Mt. Carmel Medical Center.

He was born on April 27, 1949 in Fayette County to the late Marion and Hazel Smith Merritt. He was a volunteer for the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years. He retired from the Washington City Schools in the Maintenance Department and then later worked at Fiber-Tech, formerly known as Crane Cortec.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Penwell Merritt, whom he married on May 13, 1970; daughter, Amy (Ricky) York; grandchildren, Noah Hutchinson and Sara Hutchinson and his brother, Danny (Paula) Merritt.

At his request, there will be no viewing or service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Summers Funeral Home to help with final expenses.
