HAROLD 'UNKIE' SHONKWILER, age 82, of Washington CH, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 2:09 p.m. at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 9, 1932 near Waterloo to Carl and Ada Ogburn Shonkwiler. He lived his entire life in Fayette County. He was a retired dairy farmer and sold coal for many years. Harold, along with his wife Barb, had previously operated a group home. He had been a member of the former Waterloo Church of Christ in Christian Union. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, working in his yard, attending revivals with his wife, spending time with his family and friends and all of his canine companions. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara Dollison Shonkwiler, one brother and one sister. Survivors include his son Dean (Debbie) Sheperd; step-children Tim Parrett, Terri Brown, Todd Parrett and Lori Brown; step-grandchildren Angela, Amy, Amber, Andrew, Seth, Tyler, Hannah and Derek; step-great-grandchildren Kayla, Kennedy, Owen, Lyanna, Trenton, Brydon, Raylynn and Emma; nieces and nephews Mike Ford, Doug Ford, Diane Armintrout and Darlene Coil and his beloved Shih Tzu, Buttercup. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Morrison officiating with burial to follow at the Waterloo Cemetery.
