HAROLD WILLIAM 'SMITTY' SMITH, age 72, of Staunton, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 8:57 p.m. at the Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born on January 14, 1942 in Washington CH to Robert D. and Edna L. Sheridan Smith. He had worked at Pennington Bread and retired from Calmar after 30 years of service. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed working in his yard, mowing, shining his truck inside and out and spending quality time in his recliner watching television. Smitty was preceded in death by parents, his sister Garland Mae Wood and sister-in-law Delores Smith. Survivors include his wife Ruth Strouse Smith, whom he married on June 4, 1961; daughters Tammy (Dan) Butler, Tonya (Brett) Curtis and Tanya (Rodney) Allen all of Leesburg; grandchildren Shayna, Danielle, Taylor, Cheyenne, Hunter, Maddie, Hannah, Azia and Skyler; great-grandchild Haven; siblings Charles Smith, Charlotte (Jim) Hart, Bobby (Christina) Smith and Loretta (Dave) Brown as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Also surviving are his beloved pets, Daisy Mae and Sidney. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with burial to follow at the White Oak Grove Cemetery.
