HARRY MARTIN "BUD" ATKINSON, SR., age 93, of Washington CH, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 1:25 a.m. at Court House Manor with family by his side.
He was born on April 30, 1928 in Lynn, Indiana to Harry and Iona (Kelly) Atkinson. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Bud started his career in the bakery business at the young age of 10. Bud was considered the Best Baker in Dayton. The two continued operating their well-known bakery when they moved to Washington CH in 1977. Bud was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, riding horses on his uncle's farm when he was young, being with his family and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye, Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals fan.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Atkinson and Iona (Delbert) Hewitt; his beloved wife, Nancy Lou (Buckel) Atkinson, whom he married on August 10, 1956; daughter, Jenny (Steve) Gillenwater; sister, Patricia (Atkinson) Brock; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Brock.
Survivors include his children, Harry Jr. (Regina) Atkinson, Charlie (Betty) Atkinson, Patty Atkinson, Lloyd (Renee) Atkinson, and Frank (Shea) Atkinson; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a niece, several cousins and a host of dear and special friends.
