HELEN "JANET" HARER, age 83, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025 at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born on June 23, 1941 in Piketon, Ohio to the late Fred and Ruby (Locke) Lansing. Janet was a 1959 graduate of Frankfort High School. She attended Fayette Bible Church in Washington CH. She was a gifted musician and served as her church pianist and organist for many years while attending the First Church of the Nazarene in Washington CH. Janet also taught primary Sunday School and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was an in-home caregiver for many children and loved each of them as her own. She was also a skilled seamstress and enjoyed creating beautiful gifts for her family and friends. She loved flower gardening and homemaking.
In addition to her parents, Janet is preceded in death by her siblings, Goldie Breunig, Ann Stanley, Beatrice Anders, Leroy Lansing, Louis Lansing, and Steve Lansing.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of sixty-five years, James Marvin "Jim" Harper, whom she married on July 4, 1959. Jim was her soulmate and caregiver for many years. Also surviving are her children, Linnie K. Harper, Gregory A. Harper, and Barry L. Harper (P.K.) Grandchildren surviving are Jared J. Moon, Justin K. Moon, Katelyn M. Harper, and Samuel L. Harper. She has one surviving brother, Frank (Lynne) Lansing of New Hampshire, also several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fayette Bible Church, 1315 Dayton Ave. NW, Washington CH, OH 43160, with Pastor Tony Garren and Rev. Dr. Dan McLean officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
