JAMES LEE ELLIOTT, age 87, of New Holland, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at his home.
He was born on October 24, 1936 in Pike County, Ohio to the late Clark and Lois (Wasson) Elliott. He was a 1955 graduate of Western High School in Latham, Ohio. James worked for most of his life at Detroit, Toledo & Ironton Railroad. He enjoyed having coffee at Our Place Restaurant in Washington CH, playing Bingo, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Louise (Perry) Elliott, whom he married on December 5, 1970; children, Jimbo Elliott, Debbie Little, David Whaley, and Marsha Wilson; great-granddaughter, Lindsey Nichole Whaley; and siblings, Clyde Elliott, Mary Newman, Dora Wheaton, George Elliott, Maxine Smith, Junie Elliott, and Nerva Elliott.
Survivors include his children, Brenda Lee (Jerry) Picklesimer, Scotty Elliott, and Rocky Elliott; grandchildren, Kimberly Jo (Jonathan) Dalton, James Wayne Picklesimer, Nathan Elliott, Gemika (Cody) Hickok, Amy Williams, Heather Yoakum, David Whaley, Jarrod Miller, and Jeremy Miller; great-grandchildren, Shonna (Matt) Geddes, Brooklyn Looker, Madison Looker, Kassidy Picklesimer, Desiraee Miller, and Alan Miller; great-great-grandchildren, McKenna, Allison, James, Lydia, Autumn, and Grayson; siblings, Betty Lou Potts, and Dottie Raypole; sister-in-law, Patty Elliott; and special friend, Brenda Mickle. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ohio's Hospice of Fayette County and to his nurses, Maria Free and Kelly Kirkpatrick for the wonderful care they provided.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Elliott officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
