JAMES PHILLIP HAINS, age 83, of Bloomingburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 6:50 a.m. at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 13, 1932 in Fayette County to Forrest and Mary Weyer Hains. He was a graduate of Bloomingburg High School. He was a farmer all of his life and had also worked at Producer Stock Yards. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Phil was a very active member of the Bloomingburg United Methodist Church and had served as Deacon. He was a coin collector, enjoyed attending auctions, reading and spending time with his family.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Helen, William "Bill", Robert, Jake and Charles "Chuck.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kimberly Hains; grandchildren Megan (Zach) Tyler, Michael (Heather) Hains, Trenton (Brittany) Hains and Cassandra (James) Mitchell; great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Mackayla, Alexis and Adrianna; sister Mary Francis Messinger, sister-in-law Carol Hains as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomingburg United Methodist Church, 5 Cross St., with Rev. Phil Webb officiating with burial to follow at the Bloomingburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the Summers Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Fayette County, St. Jude's Hospital, Shriners Hospital, the Wounded Warriors or the charity of your choice.
