"Jim" Stritenberger

JAMES MICHAEL "JIM" STRITENBERGER, age 91, of Washington CH, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 3:08 a.m. at his home.
He was born on August 7, 1927 in Fayette County to Orville Sr. and Clara Morris Stritenberger. Jim proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps as an airplane mechanic during World War II. He resided in Fayette County for most of his life but spent several years in Florida and Kansas. Jim owned and managed several different restaurants and bars in the area, including; Bryant's, Hamburger Haven, East Street Resturant, Jim Dandy Drive-in, H & H Bar, Rose Café, and the Emerald Inn. Jim was a long-time member of the American Legion Post #25, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Eagles Lodge #423 of Fayette County. He enjoyed bowling, mushroom hunting, and being with him family.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elsie V. Stritenberger; son, Terry Lee Stritenberger; and siblings, Wanda Ashbaugh, Ralph Stritenberger, and Cliff Stritenberger.
Survivors include his children, Michael Stritenberger, Cheri Mikol, and Debbie Davis; grandchildren, Lorie (Bob) Mustain, Jason (Alicia) Stritenberger, Wendi Smith, Valerie Elliott, and Robby Smith; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings, Orville Stritenberger Jr., Janice Lebrick, Alvin Stritenberger, Stella Louise Lytle, Ronald Stritenberger, and John Stritenberger; and his devoted canine companion, Pecos. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In keeping with Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place.
